The 2020-2021 School Year will be like no other for students, teachers, staff, administrators and our community. The Board of Education and Administration strive to share information regarding policies, expectations, guidelines, and critical updates as soon as possible. Please frequently check this web page for updated information.
We are excited to have students back in the building and look forward to a great school year!
Good evening MTHS students and families,
Last night at the BOE meeting, the MTHS School Board approved the Full Day Group 1/Group 2 rotating schedule. This schedule will be in place beginning Tuesday, September 8th with Group 1 in -person and Group 2 at home learning. This schedule allows approximately half of the student body to be present in the school at one time. The students will be split into two groups: Group 1 and Group 2 based largely on the mid-point of the alphabet for each class, freshman-seniors. The group designations have been put into skyward and students will be able to view this information Friday. They will also be able to see the lunch period they will be attending. We are still finalizing as many details as possible. NO GROUP CHANGES will be allowed unless we inadvertently separated siblings in the same household. These groups were carefully constructed in order to provide for social distance in classrooms throughout the building to the best of our ability. This schedule allows students to follow our regular 1-8 schedule, including lunch, but every other day. While one group is in session, the group at home will be engaged in learning activities in a variety of ways. At home learning will look different from class to class. Some classes may engage students every day with Zoom or Google Meets, some may give homework assignments for students to complete, some may share video assisted assignments. Teachers will be given the latitude to decide the best way to present the curriculum. Classes will proceed in a variety of ways but the curriculum will remain consistent between content area sections (i.e. All sections of Algebra 1, US History, etc. will cover the same content). I have attached a document referencing student, teacher, parent, and administration expectations that I encourage you to read to assist in our return to school. Classes will be 45 minutes in length and students will have a lunch period. Students will be asked to social distance while in the designated lunch areas. Four separate spaces that will have a capacity of 50 students will be available for each lunch period allowing for social distancing of 6 feet or more while students eat. (Due to Covid restrictions for food services we are not allowed to offer our salad bar and our made-to-order sandwich line).
The complete schedule is below and rotates every other day.
Group 1 (Tuesday in-person)
Group 2 (Wednesday in-person)
Bus transportation for students will run approximately 15 minutes later due to the 8:15 start time as opposed to the 8:00 start that we used in the beginning of the school year. Parents are asked not to drop students off prior to 8:00a.m.
I have also attached guidelines for classroom live streaming. This learning platform is new to all of us and it is my hope that these guidelines will promote a healthy utilization of this technology.
Welcome back to In-Person Learning MTHS! Let’s have a great year!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
The M.T.H.S. Board of Education met last night to review the plan that I sent you last week that would allow us to better socially distance in our classrooms. The Board has asked the administration to address some concerns with this plan and explore alternate frameworks utilized by other area schools with hybrid schedules that combine remote and in-person learning. The Board will meet again next week to review options with the intention of welcoming students back into the building on Tuesday, September 8th. We thank our entire community for their continued patience and support.
