Color Guard

DESCRIPTION

The Redbird Color Guard is a performing ensemble (non-audition) that adds a visual element to the marching show. Students perform with flags, rifles and sabers as well as some dance. Students receive a PE waiver for the first semester. Members are expected to pay band dues as well as some uniform costs (shoes, make-up…). Anyone can be a member of the Redbird Color Guard. No previous musical or performing experience is required.

The Redbird Color Guard practices and competes as a part of the the Redbird Marching Band. Students in Color Guard MUST be a part of the Marching Band to fully participate. Members perform at all home football games as well as competitions across the state.The marching band has two camps at the schools during the summer in mid-June and at the end of July. They spend a week at Eastern Illinois University at the beginning of August. The competitive season starts in mid-September and continues through November.
