The MTHS Forensics Team (speech team), with both novice and varsity divisions was formed in 1989. It is IHSA sanctioned and participates at the Regional, Sectional, and State tournaments. Students may join the team through the month of November, and they do not have to participate in every tournament. This is the perfect activity for students wanting to improve their acting and public speaking skills. Even if a student is in a sport, it is possible to participate on the team.
It is suggested that all competitors choose at least two events in which to compete, because only two competitors at a tournament may be entered in any one event. If you have any questions about the team, please email Mr. Rowden.
PRACTICE TIME SIGN-UPS
There will be sign-up sheets for individual and duet practice times posted on the team bulletin board outside room 201. If you sign-up and then are unable to make it, please try to let me know the day before so someone else might have a shot at the time.
2014-15 TEAM MEETINGS
Full team meetings are scheduled in Room 201 immediately after school on Wednesdays. They should last between thirty minutes to an hour, depending on events performing and team business. The first one of this season will be Wednesday, September 3, 2014. If you are an athlete or have a necessary obligation during scheduled meeting times, I will be in my room on Thursday mornings for you to get important information.
