Tuesday 12/16/14

Bellwork: I know it isn’t Wednesday, but we are going to Word of the Day Chart anyway.

Look up what the word of the year was. It was just recently named. It is your Word of the Day.
Create a new document in Word where we are going to write a story using at least 10 of your words from your chart. You can generate your own random plot line here if you want to (or you can come up with your own storyline).

Open your document named Pretest. Follow the instructions to complete this document. Print it out and turn it in.

CHOICE:
Complete any makeup work. Take another timed writing. Typing games. You must be typing something. It is not goof-off time.

In Word, open your word document from yesterday that we called PAGE25. Put your name at the bottom of the page and then PRINT this document. Trade with a neighbor. Open to page 25 in your book and then mark on the paper all of the errors, using the correct proofreader marks.

In Microtype, choose Skillbuilding, Speed, choose whichever lesson you are currently on. We will spend 7 minutes here.

Use proofreader marks (as shown on the board) and mark on the handout where the errors are. We will do the first few together. Finish on your own.

In Word, change to CN 12 and single spacing. SAVE AS: PAGE25 on your Keyboarding subdirectory.
Type all lines from p. 25 in your textbook. On purpose, go back and make at least 18 errors (three of each, as listed on the board). Print out your paper and turn it in. Tomorrow, we will switch papers and correct each other’s papers.

3B – each line once, SS with a DS after 3 line groups.
3C – each line once, SS with a DS after 2 line groups, repeat the exercise if time permits.

Thursday 8/28/14

Bellwork: Open Powerpoint and go to Common\Cooper\Keyboarding I\ 2014 08 28 Shadow Rocking Horse and find the ONE object that matches the shadow. Help your neighbors remember how to turn on the pen when you run the slide show. Then do 2014 08 28 Girl with Book on her Head.

Bellwork: Open your Word of the Day Chart. Click on this link to get the word of the day. Type the word and the definition. Find at least three synonyms and write a sentence using that vocabulary word.

Assignment: Dictate with I and R words from yesterday. Practice in the dark.

Bellwork: Open your ACT Question of the Day file. Then click on this link to answer the first 5-10 questions, whatever you have time for. How many did you get correct out of how many you had time to finish. For example, 6 correct out of 10 attempted. (5-10 minutes)

Assignment: Open a Word document. Switch to CN12 and SS (single spacing with 0 points before and 0 points after). Grab a textbook and open to page 5. Type each line from Exercise 2B one time each. If you still have time, start over again. DS (double space or press the Enter key two times) after each set of two lines. (10-15 minutes)

Learn and drill on the I and the R keys. Practice some words with I and R. (7-10 minutes)

Look at the list of letters that we have studied. In seven minutes, how many words can you think of that ONLY use these letters. You can repeat these.

Monday 8/25/14

Bellwork: Math Monday (open the document below called Math Monday Chart). Save it to your own subdirectory. The Math question is this: Sam worked 7 hours on Monday, 8 hours on Tuesday, 8 hours on Wednesday, 6.5 hours on Thursday, and 8 hours on Friday. How many total hours did Sam work? If Sam earns minimum wage in IL, what was his GROSS earnings (before any taxes were taken out)?

Assignment: Typing Test at this website for TWO minutes each. You can choose your own topic. Do this three times and then capture a screen shot of your results each time. Paste each one into a Word document. Print to the Room 236 printer when you have all three all the document.

Bellwork: Get logged in and then open MS Powerpoint. Open the file from Common\Cooper\Keyboarding I\2014 08 21 Shadow Back to School. Run the Powerpoint show and then right-click to get a pointer tool in a color of your choice. You will find one item that matches the shadow in the corner. Mark off each mistake as you find it.

Go to this website to practice on the Home Row. Type each row two times in the boxes provided. Tab to get from one box to the next.

Open MS Word. Change the font to CN12. Learn H and E. Practice with dictation.

Wednesday 8/20/14

Bellwork: Open the file below named Word of the Day Chart. Put your name at the top and get rid of the brackets. Save this file on your Keyboarding I subdirectory. Open your planner to today’s date. At the top of the page is a Word of the Week. Type this word into the correct spot on the form. Follow the instructions on the form. Save this document in your own subdirectory and then close this document.

Go to this website and practice in Lesson 1, 2, 3, 4.

Nominate someone in your row to go get books for all of the people in your row.

Get a new document in MS Word. Change font to CN12. Type 1F from textbook page 4.
