CTE – Video Production

Digital Video Production

In a nutshell, this is what we do in this class: students will learn how to use a digital video camera to make videos. This is a project-based course where students will learn about composition, audio, lighting, camera operation, and how to edit their work using iMovie and other software as necessary. This course will provide a solid foundation for further study in the exciting field of videography. Digital Video Production 2 continues the study of videography.

Students will also have the opportunity to compete at the state SkillsUSA competition, an organization supported and promoted by Mike Rowe, host of Discovery Channel’s Dirty Jobs. Over the years, the MTHS Career and Technical Education department has sent many students to compete in various fields (such as Photography, Graphic Communications, Electronics, Woodworking, etc.) at the state and national levels where they have done well.

To learn more about SkillsUSA, check out the national website at skillsusa.org and the Illinois website at illinoisskillsusa.org.
