MTHS enjoyed celebrating the Culture Fair last week! Students did a great job of gaining knowledge of their countries. Everyone did a great job with all of the dancing, cooking, and music to immerse everyone in their country. Thank you to the Social Science department for hosting this great event.

Congratulations to Lana Brooks, Clayton Cawley, Ethan Krei, and Nick Walker, who will continue their academic and athletic careers next year. Lana will play tennis at Rome City Institute in Rome City, Italy. Clayton will play baseball at Morton College in Cicero, Illinois; Ethan will play baseball at North Park University in Chicago, Illinois; and Nick will run track at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois. The future is bright for these Redbirds, and we wish them the best of luck!

Congratulations to Ryan Krake, who will continue his academic and athletic career. Ryan will run track and cross country at Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana. We look forward to seeing all of the great things you will do! Best of luck in the future!

Senior students enjoyed Senior Sunset! Thank you to the Bakery Bar, a newly opened bakery on the square in Metamora, for providing cake pop treats!

MTHS students enjoyed this year's FFA Petting Zoo. Our students did a great job of being positive role models for our entire community. It was great to see our grade school districts take part in this fun day!

The Redbirds represented well at the IHSA sectional tournament at Lake Evergreen. Out of 26 boats, Max Alread and Will Garber finished in 5th place. Just missing the qualifying cut to advance to the state tournament by only a few ounces. Kevin Barker and Owen Clelland also finished in the top ten.

Congratulations to Karson Hale, who placed second at SkillsUSA in electronic technology, and Audrey Hodgen, who placed second in photography. Great job Redbirds!

What a fun night honoring artists and writers at the third annual SOAR book release art show in our courtyard. There was artwork, musicians, creative writers, and even delicious food prepared by student chefs. MTHS is filled with such talented students!

Congratulations to MTHS Senior Esma Frieden, who will be continuing her academic and athletic career at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she will play volleyball next year! Best of Luck, Esma; your future is bright!

Although they faced a tough, wet, cold, windy day on the lake, the Redbird anglers fared well at the Mid Illini Bass Fishing Tournament. The varsity team of Kevin Barker and Owen Clelland finished in 2nd place, and Barker had the big fish of the tournament. The big fish tipped the scales at 5 1/2 lbs. Max Alread and Will Garber finished in 5th place with a respectable bag. The JV team of Cooper Mathison, Owen Cabell, Adam Copwer, and Adric Schonert finished 2nd as well. Owen Cabell came through with two nice fish. Overall, the team overcame adversity and represented MTHS well.

Thank you to Dr. Charlie Heinzmann, Class of 2009, and OSF Emergency Medicine Physician for helping us celebrate this year's Redbird Scholars. Dr. H shared how his experience at MTHS helped him push through medical school. He stressed the importance of having high standards.
