Intro to Fine Arts had a special guest speaker today - our very own Mrs. Dale! She taught them all about the art of book and paper making, which she also teaches in her Graphic Arts class and does as a working artist when she’s not teaching.

Photography students took their first photographs today using only a shoebox and photo paper. This week they are learning about pinhole photography and the darkroom before they get their film cameras next week.

Students in Graphic Arts learned how to design an ad the “old fashioned way”—by laying it out then cutting and pasting it onto a board.

Carving artist Dwight Hershberger came and talked to Art One 3D students today about the subtractive process in plaster carving. These students are knee deep in plaster carving and he gave them some great methods of idea generation, thinking in three dimensions, and showed us some of his amazing pieces.

Mr. Ray (MTHS woods teacher) came back to the ceramic classes this semester to show us another perspective and some advanced skills on the wheel. We always look forward to his expertise and visits. How many of you know that he was a professional potter before he was our woods teacher?
